  • QC AutoUpdate Server - The database that runs on the FileMaker Server that does the installation of Extensions.

  2. Add your Extensions to your FileMaker Server.
  3. Upload the 'QC AutoUpdate Server' database to your FileMaker Server.
  4. Copy one script from 'QC AutoUpdate Client' to your solution and modify.

FileMaker Server Auto Update Setup & Extension Installation

  • Enable AutoUpdate in FileMaker Server.
    • Log into the FileMaker Server Admin Console. If your server is at the IP address 192.168.1.2, open your web browser to 192.168.1.2:16000 to access the 'Admin Console Start Page'. Click the 'Start Admin Console' link.
    • In the Admin Console, choose 'Database Server' under Configuration, then enable 'Allow FileMaker Pro clients to download updates automatically'.
  • Add your FileMaker Extensions to the FileMaker Server.
    • Open the path to the AutoUpdate folder. If the 'AutoUpdate' folder does not exist, create it.
      • Mac: '/Library/FileMaker Server/Data/Databases/AutoUpdate/'
      • Windows: 'C:\Program Files\FileMaker\FileMaker Server\Data\Databases\AutoUpdate\'
    • Create a folder for the Extension within the AutoUpdate folder. If the Extension is named 'MySuperExtension.fmx', then the folder name should be 'MySuperExtension'.
    • Create a subfolder for the Version of the Extension. If the 'MySuperExtension' version is 1.23, the folder should be named '1.23'.
    • Place the Mac and Windows Extensions in the subfolder. The paths will resemble:
      • Mac: '/Library/FileMaker Server/Data/Databases/AutoUpdate/MySuperExtension/1.23/MySuperExtension.fmx'
      • Windows: 'C:\Program Files\FileMaker\FileMaker Server\Data\Databases\AutoUpdate\MySuperExtension\1.23\MySuperExtension.fmx'
